Women Suffrage

I picked Women Suffrage to research because I have always been obsessed with women fighting for their rights and showing off their talents to the world. I chose this topic because it caught my eye when I read that had slavery needed to be abolished and women were fighting to gain their rights to vote. This topic was interesting to me because it showed how many women didn’t give up on their dream and took every possible step to reach it and finally got what they worked for. Women’s Suffrage leads to a lot of things changing in society, like the 19th Amendment to give women their rights and get rid of slavery. Women’s Suffrage leads to women in the parade getting arrested and called dirty slurs from others who didn’t believe that slaves or women should have rights like them. The women in the parade still carried on and continued to march and speak the truth about not being treated equally. My argument is that women should be treated as fairly as men and that slavery should have never happened. Women weren’t paid the same if they had a job and if they didn’t have a job they were stuck at home doing chores around the house. Women were judged on their attitudes and personality towards the public. I will be creating my project on a website full of primary, secondary sources, and pictures. I found a lot of pictures and research about the women who led the Suffrage movement. I started with finding out why the Women Suffrage Act happened, How it was solved/ Who was in it, Then quotes and pictures of the whole process. The leaders of the movement were Susan B. Anthony, Alice Paul, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, Lucy Stone, and Ida B. Wells. Some women were colored who also helped like Frances E.W. Harper, Mary Church Terrell, and others. My topic for this year's contest theme was Debate & Diplomacy. Women's Suffrage relates to the theme because during the movement they are fighting for their rights to vote and banning slavery everywhere. Women’s Suffrage is also about how women had to voice their opinion on how they are being treated, they had people that didn’t agree with them but over time they put up a successful fight. My topic is significant in history because women have been fighting for rights for years and have been denied, but every time they keep fighting and speaking up for themselves. They weren’t giving up every time their voices weren’t heard, they would say and stomp louder so people would not be able to ignore them. Slavery has been around for several years and people are still fighting to this day for people to get treated fairly. Women of all colors marched together and fought for each other during the Women’s Suffrage. Women’s Suffrage was the beginning of a better world and the 19th Amendment was only the start of women becoming leaders, teachers, bosses, and the most important.
